Welcome to the D&B Advantage Player subreddit. If you're a first-time visitor, please read the main sticky post before posting - it has a lot of good information (and covers why many things may not be talked about openly!) This subreddit is the place for anything related to the Dave & Buster's restaurant/arcade chain, with a focus on strategies for winning and profiting from their redemption games. All D&B-related posts are welcome! Startrek cards/sets can be turned in after the next set is available! Should another arcade/chain of arcades be profitable, discussion on them is welcome here as well.

NOTE: This does mean that posts referencing advantage play at Main Event Entertainment are allowed here. However, keep in mind that MAIN EVENT DOES NOT APPLY GLOBAL SETTINGS - it is very likely even somewhat short amounts of significant AP on particularly games may invoke a nerf at YOUR store level. Proceed with caution. Don't bitch at this sub if you decide to attack a game hard at your store and its JP is cut by 50-75% the next time you return. A link to my old AMA thread, where I covered a lot of basic info regarding what I do down at D&B and good ways to profit from them - Posting/General rules:.

If something is wrong at your D&B location, please be constructive. 'My location sucks and I never want to go there again' - not helpful. 'Games X, Y, and Z are broken/not working right at my location and I believe they should be working in this manner, can anyone verify?' .

Use common sense in distributing info, especially outside of this subreddit - you don't want people to be swarming your main game to where you can't get what you're looking for out of it, or tilt the numbers too much away from D&B's favor. Posting Game Breaking Information is a reportable option and will be removed. Spreading of False Information that could end in a bad result is not allowed. Racism is also not allowed. Don't beat up a single game so hard D&B changes how it works. As a general rule, if you're doing more than 100,000 on one game in a week, if you keep going the way you are now.you're gonna have a bad time.

In nineteen ninety eight, the undertaker threw mankind off hell in a cell, and plummeted sixteen feet through an announcer's table. Everything else should also be common sense - if you're selling the stuff you win, don't massively undercut other people to sell your stuff, you don't need to do that, it might affect the market longer-term if it continues.

AP as much as you want when playing but still tip the waitstaff if you eat or drink there. Links: If you can clear 25 out of the 30 challenges on this list, you can truly consider yourself a master advantage player. You would need to have each kid have a registered power card and have them bring a 20/20 coupon and have them each pay separately (because only one coupon is allowed per guest per card), maybe with money you gave them, this way it would only cost $20 per kid if you can get your hands on enough coupons to cover each kid. My location has coupons available right in the mall so that would be easy over here. That would definitely last an hour. The cost breakdown is like this: Most games are something like 9.9 credits or 6.8 credits.

There are some games that cost less, but most are the prices I list above. Some games like the premium simulators like Star wars battlefront and dream raiders are 12-15 credits. If you use a 20 off 20 coupon then the cost of the games would be 99 cents per game (for a 9.9 credit game) or 68 cents for a 6.8 credit game, and the more expensive games I mentioned above would be 1.20 to 1.50 per game. If you don't use the coupon the cost per game doubles.

The 20 off 20 coupon gets you 200 credits I think, if you spend $20 without the coupon that gets you 100 credits. Just don't expect to spend $10 per kid, that only gets you 48 credits which will last maybe all of 10 min. If you want to buy food then that would obviously cost extra, as the prices I listed are only for the games. I find D&B to be a very good value for the games, most places charge $2-3 per game or more and don't have any discounts at all, at least they offer 20 off 20 coupons which are mostly perpetual for those of us who don't go every day and don't go through 1000 chips on a wed. I can't comment on the food as I have never eaten it, but I am pretty sure you can go ahead of time and grab a menu to see the prices for yourself. The point of my story is that you need to spend at least $20 per kid on games for them to have any fun.

Its possible to send the kids in ahead of time to get power cards from the kiosk for around $3 each or some of them may have their own already if they have been there before, just make sure they register the power card with an email address so they can get coupons sent to their email, then have them bring the coupon and email to the location and have each pay individually. You could also go and buy the cards ahead of time and hand one to each kid and tell them to register it, again the last time I checked there was a $3 card option on the kiosk. As I mentioned you can also find coupons through other sources like brochure racks around town and if your location is in a mall like mine is they are right in the mall at the brochure racks in the mall. Oh yeah they also have a limit of something like 5-6 kids minors per adult at some locations or most locations, so if you have a lot of kids they may not allow you in. If you are in there on a friday night and you have kids with you they may ask you to leave at a certain point, usually 10-11pm.

It really depends on where you go or how much you spend Western NY, where the price of everything entertainment is insane, IMO. Our carnivals also charge $5 per play on carnival games and $5 per ride or more, or $20-25 pay one price for a lot of about 5-10 rides.

Some pricing is so you have to buy bundles of tickets and they don't sell single tickets so you have to live with what is in the bundle for ride tickets, so you could end up paying $10 just so you and your child could ride a small train that goes around a track a few times. I could go on about this for a very long time.

D&B is the best value on a wed after you use coupons, I don't think much about that can be disputed. Even if you don't go on Wed its still a pretty great value, especially with the added free 5 plays that happen sometimes and the other promos Adventure landing is also here and they are pretty cheap (30 tokens for $5), they have some good games but almost every game eats your tokens and runs out of tickets while you are playing, staff can attend to this and they are on top of it since they know its a constant issue but it happens so often its still a huge pain.

Their prices are super cheap though with most games being 1-2 tokens each. Head over the Canadian border and prices double or triple for everything, 12 arcade tokens in Canada are $5 USD and games are 3-4 tokens each, that is for a simple redemption game. Some games like Monster drop and slam a winner remain 1 token per one ball drop. The thing of it is I play Monster drop a lot which is at every arcade, and a lot of the swipe cards arcade have it programmed for one ball drop per credit, so I am paying $1.50 or $1 at most of these places (barring the exceptions above) to drop a ball once.

So if I go to D&B or Adventure landing where D&B sets all the Monster drop games to 3 balls per credit and Adventure landing is 1 token per ball drop so about 25 cents per ball drop less if you buy tokens in bulk. I am basically tripling or better the amount of gameplay I get for the same amount of money or less. Every time i have gone to D&B for the last year or so I have been able to jackpot the large monster drop within 3 ball drops which means one credit, very worth it for me.

There is a round one opening in Erie, PA which is about 2 hours away and it will open by the end of the month, and I think the minimum purchase is $10 with a $1 charge for the playing card, not sure how many credits it is per game, I hear they have some nice games, but I would be going for the non-redemption games at that place. Sara covered so much of what I would have said. You've gotta do that 20/20 bit given you're doing a party without it being a full-on party. If you have time to load these cards prior, you can do one load per day leading up to the party or if you have a store that will let you do more than one B20G20 you can load up en masse prior, one card for each kid. It might also be worth looking into a Power Hour card (those are $10 and are good for one hour of play on all blue-swipe games - meaning no ticket games and no premium purple swipe games like Halo Firestorm, one swipe per minute) IF any of the kids will be playing games that don't pay tickets and the party's going to run a while.

If you're looking to save money on food, you could potentially ask someone on this forum to sell you some Tastes for Tickets vouchers.PM me if you're interested in that. Especially if you need a large amount of food to cover a decent sized group. You should reasonably be able to get out of this at $20 for games per person and maybe $20 per person food and that's including a meal and a beverage (AND appetizers included in this if you decide to do Tastes for Tickets vouchers.).

From a quick scan, I didn't see anyone else mention this but I could be wrong. You may also be able to do the Eat and Play combo (not sure if it's available at every location). You'd have to do an earlier dinner though, as the promotion ends at 5pm on Fridays They have 17 meal options, ranging from $17.99-22.99, and with the meal you'd get a $10 Power Card. This would require a bit of effort, but it's what I would do if I wanted to get the most for my money without having an applicable Groupon. Find out how many people she is going to bring.

Go to a D&B and get a card for everyone. That will be $2 each. Make rewards accounts for each card. You may want to ask their parents to make an account for their child, as there is a one account per person rule.

Alternatively, you could have a few of your friends help you. Those accounts come with a promotion where if you buy $10 in game play, they will send you another $10. Via email, and you have to print it out to redeem it in person. Maybe you have enough email addresses yourself, maybe you'll need your friends to email the coupons to you. Go to D&B to redeem the coupons for each Power Card. Investment is $12 per person and you'll have $20 of chips on the cards. Combined with the Eat and Play Combo, each person would have $30 of chips and dinner for a $29.99-34.99 per person cost.

Since it's a Friday, theres also the Power Hour promotion. $10 for an hour of unlimited blue swipe games, 4:30-7:30. These are non-ticket games, and some of the 'Premium' video games are not blue swipe, but it's a good value. So for $39.99-44.99 per person you could get dinner + $30 in chips + an hour of unlimited blue-swipe video games. If you did all three, I'd probably hold onto all the cards until after dinner, and then give them the Power Hour cards only. They'll have 60 minutes from when they first swipe. After the 60 minutes, I'd give them the Power Cards, which can be used for any games (aside from maybe the VR games?

    Not sure on those).

I guess I should have been more on the ball about this, my husband turns 40 on 12/27. I know he would really love a big party. Somehow with a 6 month old, work and grad school it just popped in my head - his b day is coming up very soon!

Has anyone ever hosted an adult surprise party? I'm 28 and have no experience with this!

He mentioned years ago while we were there that he would like a party at dave and busters someday. I just looked at the prices online and it starts at 27/person with buffet and game card.

I'm not sure if this is reasonable or not. I would love to keep this at $1000 or below. I'm not sure how realistic this is.I'm guessing with out making up the list of names that to keep it around $1000 at Dave and busters would mean not inviting everyone vs it being at a hall or something. With having it at a hall I would need food catered (no way to explain mass producing food in our kitchen and keep it a surprise) and some form of entertainment.

Any suggestions/advice appreciated!!! XCMama77 I was just looking at places to do a make up 30th bday since I was pregnant last year for my 30th.

There is a bar/restaurant not too far from where I live that has an outdoor covered and heated patio with fire pits and bocce ball. If I paid for food and everyone paid for their own drinks it's going to be about 1,000-1,200 for 40 people. You could look for a place like that.

It's literally sliders, skewers, hummus, fries, etc so finger foods for everyone and I figure people can buy what they want to drink and that keeps costs down for us. Danielmeowmeow I live in Mass too and just hosted a surprise anniversary party for my parents in May, with a 6 week old. My brother is the executive chef of a restaurant so we had it there and it was super cheap for us. But now I'm looking for a place to do my baby's first birthday (I'm a bit of a planner) and every place seems so pricey.

I was also thinking of a VFW hall or an arts center and calling in catering. What part of MA are you from? We had a pretty good caterer at my wedding and baby shower. I could find her info and pass it along to you.
